About Us
Zoey’s Sickle Power, Inc was founded by Jennifer Fletcher, LMSW and Zoey Gayle in 2020. Our organization provides financial assistance and resources to children living with sickle cell disease and their caregivers. We also provide mental health counseling to ensure that warriors are getting the proper mental nourishment to cope with daily living stressors. In addition, we provide education, awareness, and advocacy on behalf of all sickle cell warriors. Our hope is to one day end the sickle cell cycle and increase awareness about sickle cell trait and prevention of sickle cell disease.

What is Sickle Cell Disease?
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an umbrella term for a group of genetic disorders affecting the body’s red blood cells.
People with SCD have atypical hemoglobin, a protein within red blood cells that helps circulate oxygen throughout the body – known as hemoglobin S or sickle hemoglobin – which causes their red blood cells to become misshapen. As a result, these red blood cells break down more quickly than usual and can block small blood vessels, cutting off the oxygen supply to certain tissues and causing complications.
